Blurb: Not all villains can be defeated.
Nova will learn it takes more than sheer strength to be a superhero. Her world implodes when Fortune strikes back for all the trouble she’s caused. His dangerous games put everyone around her at risk, especially when he decides to turn Arcania against its precious Heroes. Nova wants to protect Arcania, but how does she save a city that doesn’t want her help?
Cole has no idea how to deal with his sister Penelope, especially now that she’s learned the truth about their family secret. Thanks to Fortune, she’s headed down a dark path, one with no return. Torn between helping Nova and protecting his sister, Cole will be forced to make a choice. Tensions rise as Cole and Nova discover war will come to Arcania if they don’t get Fortune off the streets…or preferably six feet under.
Nova and Cole might have each other, but will they lose everything else in their mission to save Arcania?

Review: I really love the fact that the author starts this off right where the first book ended. I’m used to the second books being farther along, starting at weeks or months after the first ended.
In some series, the second book is mostly filler, setting up for the third book but I don’t think this is what happened here. I did think it was just a tad bit repetitive though and it was a little anti-climatic when Fortune revealed himself. I feel like there would have been more of a reaction if it had been someone that Nova knows. I didn’t have the reaction I wanted because I don’t know who he is while he knows everything about Nova.
A little more romance since Cole and Nova got together but nothing that’s overly in your face.
The reaction that Henry ha when he found out that Nova was the superhero was a bit of an over reaction in my mind. Maybe I’m just thinking that he’s a journalist instead of her best friend but still, even thinking of him as a best friend, she wants to protect him.
And that twist at the end, I know it says in the blurb that Cole has to make a choice but the way the choice comes about is surprising. The way the choice is brought up and what he has to do is such a twist, I couldn’t believe it ended like that! I had to stop myself from going to the sneak peak at the third book. I don’t like looking at those sneak peaks because then I feel like I’m starting a book but I’m unable to finish it.
Anyways, a good continuation of the HOA series and I can’t wait until the next book!
Thank you for reading my review.
