Blurb: Like most teenagers, Rouge is trying to figure out who she is and what she wants to be. With little knowledge about her past, she has questions but has never tried to find the answers. Everything changes when she befriends a strangely intoxicating family. Siblings Grace and Michael, appear to have secrets which seem connected to Rouge. Her hunch is confirmed when a horrible incident occurs at an outdoor party. Rouge may be the only one who can find the answer.

An ancient journal, a Sioghra necklace and a special mark force life-altering decisions for a girl who grew up unprepared to fight for her life or others.

All secrets have a cost and Rouge’s determination to find the truth can only lead to trouble…or something even more sinister.

Review: I’m not really sure how to feel about this book to be honest. It was fast paced but, for a book of 170 pages, I expected that. What I didn’t expect was to get almost all of the information in one sitting.

I actually liked that while the relationship was growing, she was learning or figuring out little tidbits instead of being completely engrossed in the guy. It actually felt like she had a mind of her own and wasn’t so shallow as to completely ignore everything.

I’m still confused as to what they actually are but I guess that’s what happens when a teenager tries to explain something so complex.

Finally! A youth novel that doesn’t just focus on the budding relationship between the main character and her love interest. It had a little mystery mixed into it and the relationship didn’t take away from the plot.

I still can’t describe my feelings for it though, it’s kind of 50/50 for me. I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it either, I just feel indifferent about it.

Do I want to go on with the series? I guess, I don’t feel an urgent need to go on though. Will I read it again? Probably not.

Maybe I’ll get some answers as to what they are in the next book and there’ll be more werewolves. There was a warning at the beginning that this book contained werewolves so, it made me think there would be werewolves left and right. Nope, more like just one and the reader barely even gets to see it. Oh well.

Thank you for reading my review.
