Review: For some reason, I consider this book my favorite so far out of the leopard series. We’ll see if it stays that way when I read Leopard’s Fury.
He’s an emotionally broken, abused guy who believes everyone is in a position to betray him but slowly learns to love over two years of living with those who don’t run in his social circle. Emma, Drake, Joshua, Ethan, etc.
It’s basically just a book of healing and finding that gentle, caring side that he thought was beat out of him as a child and I guess that’s why I really enjoy this book, which is why it took me less than 24 hours to read it. I just couldn’t put it down, the writing just grabs on and drags you into a world of deceit, abuse, betrayal, love and acceptance.
The cover is eye-catching, though I do admit to thinking that the model used doesn’t look as intense as Jake.is written to be. I don’t know, I imagine him…hmm, bigger and broader.
The pace is steady, keeps the story flowing nicely. I also thought it was interesting that the author started the story off when Jake was still in the womb, I don’t recall any book starting off like that.
Alright, now then, my little story that I like to tell about chapter 11 when I tell people about this book. It was either my sophomore or junior year in high school and I was in the band room with my marching band buddies and I was reading this book. I think someone asked me what it was about and some how we ended up in a circle, passing this book around and trying to see if anyone could read chapter 11 out loud. Every single one of us could not get past a couple of sentences, it was so funny.
