Blurb: Tyranny. Desperation. Rebellion.

While Tristan may be the heir to the House of Listar, at heart he’s more a lad than a lord.

Mad with power, the ruthless and scheming Baron of Belnair will stop at nothing to gain the crown. In the dead of night, the Baron massacres Tristan’s family and burns their home to the ground. Desperate and alone, Tristan must fight for his life and his people.

With everything at stake, Tristan must unite the unlikeliest of allies to block the Baron’s ascent. For the first time in his life, he must become the leader he was born to be.

The Baron’s armies grow as an ancient magic stirs in the mountains. If Tristan fails, the throne, his freedom, and the love of his life will be lost forever.

Review: Another King like person trying to take back his kingdom like place like in King’s Lament but more successful in gathering an army. I say king like because he isn’t a king, he’s a person of status but same idea.

I feel like it was a cross between King’s Lament and the political and action spots of the Firekeeper series, although I didn’t love this one as much as I did those books.

The cover is great, very eye catching as is the blurb. The writing is alright, I couldn’t really connect with some of the characters and I admit that I did skip over some of the war because it went to different POVs that I wasn’t really interested in.

But I did finish the book and I do admit that I liked it. The pace was a little slow but picked up in a few places. I would recommend to those who enjoy a clean, medieval, fantasy, action story with just the slightest bit of romance.

Thank you for reading my review.
