Review: This book had me on an emotional rollercoaster from the first page. I have been a fan of Gary and Gabrielle’s since they met in Dark Descent and I’m so mad that I wasn’t more careful on Goodreads because I’m sure that I would have been freaking out so much more when the ritual words didn’t work. I had always wondered what would happen if a male said the ritual words to a female who isn’t his lifemate. Is that something that would happen with all of them or is it just Gary because of how he accepted being Gregori’s brother?

Even though Aleksei was an abusive ass at first, I don’t support it, I don’t love it don’t like it, but I do see where he’s coming from. Could he have handled it better? I actually don’t know if he could have, he was that far gone, that’s why he stopped killing vampires. Although, if he had actually gone through with forcing her I either would have skipped their parts and only read about Trixie and Fane or just closed the book.

That didn’t happen though, I am happy to say that he learned, he listened to her and found out what actually happened and worked at making sure she felt like she could talk to him and that she felt safe with him.

I loved that Fane was so ready to laugh but taking two blood exchanges from her while not really explaining anything too her was a little fast and overwhelming but again, I understand it, it’s two couples this book is about.

The writing and the pace were amazing and so emotional but I don’t think this furthered the major plot all that much. There’s still two Malinov brothers out there but I am very excited about Dragomir, he’s my favorite of the ancients. Him and Gary, I’m very excited but very nervous about their books. Oh! Since Gary’s lifemate is in France, does that mean he’ll spend time with Francesca and Gabriel?

Knowing this book was coming out, I re-read the entire series, bought the book in March but just read it in May and I have to say, it was worth the wait.
