Blurb: I broke his heart. Then he came to rescue me.

Conor

I’m going to make her scream my name, and tease her until she begs me to fill her up, inch by filthy inch. Mikhail Antonov stole his daughter from me once, but fate’s given me a second chance and this time he doesn’t get a say. Her dad’s a fucking bully. The rest of this crooked town might be terrified of him, but not me. Not now I’ve found Maya. Mikhail doesn’t know it yet, but if he lays a hand on my woman, he’s dead. I’m going to make her mine again, and he’s not going to stop me – even if he does run the Russian mob. If he stands in my way, I’ll burn his town to the ground.

Maya

Conor Regan saved me twice before he even said hello. He made me happy for the first time I could remember. But then my mobster dad took it all away. When I saw Conor fighting in that cage four years later, it was everything I’d always wanted…and everything I’d ever feared. Now we’re balanced on a knife edge, with danger lurking on either side. Conor’s like a drug to me, but every time I let him inside me, I’m risking everything I hold dear. I want him more than life itself, but I’ve got a secret that might ruin everything…He’s a dad.

Review: I was hooked. I don’t know if it’s because of the MMA stuff or because he’s a tattooed Irishman but this has to be my favorite non-paranormal MMA romance book.

There were a few typos here and there and the sense of time seemed rather abrupt in some places, skipping things that really could have been quite interesting. Example, I think it would have been interesting to read about Conor’s inner monologue when he first realizes that he has a child.

Other than that though, I loved this story and I would really enjoy a prequel to this with their time together in Dublin, I think that would be an interesting and fun read. The readers could see Maya when she isn’t under her father’s thumb. Oh! Also, a book or novella about Conor’s and Maya’s life in the four years they were separated, I think I’m a little obsessed with these characters.

I’m in love with that cover, mainly because of the tattoos but I think the colors compliment each other as well.

He was funny! Finally! An alpha male fight who knows how to crack a joke, especially in very serious situations. It made me laugh a couple of times.

The pace, while a tad slow in one place, was appropriate everywhere else and that twist at the end, I did not see coming. I completely thought they were going to away with it. Don’t worry though, while this is book 1 in the Mob City series, this is a stand alone and does not have a cliffhanger.

Thank you for reading my review.
