Review: Reading this after getting almost to the end of the series was a nice little break from all of the extra stuff, like going back to what made me fall in love with the Carpathians in the first place.

The model on the cover really looks like he could be Lucian, even though he’s described as having long hair. Maybe that’s why I can’t really imagine the Carpathian men having long hair, because when there is a model on the cover, he has relatively short hair.

While I do like having read this so far into the series, I do wish I could have read it after Dark Legend, the ending to that book is so intense you just can’t help but need the next book.

The way the book starts out, the way the author sends the readers into the past for both Lucian and Jaxon was so great, I kind of wish it was done for every book. I know it was done with Lara in Dark Curse but not with Nicolas. It really helped me connect to the characters, knowing their past and getting connected with them through the early years. Well, not really early for Lucian.

I also felt like the way Jaxon reacted to everything was very relatable. I feel like Alexandria, while a little relatable, kind of went overboard so I feel like Jaxon reacted just right for the situation she’s in.

The plot itself was a little slow to get going but the other plot kept it from getting boring. I do kind of feel like everything was kind of easy, the fights and all didn’t seem intense enough but maybe because it’s Lucian and he’s supposed to be all powerful.
