Well, I’ve come full circle. You remember that book journal I mention every now and then? If not, you can read about it in my About Me and it’s pretty much the entire reason I started doing book reviews. Well anyway, Dark Wolf was my very first entry and goodness have I come a long way. Well, on to my book review!

Blurb: Skyler Daratrazanoff always recognized the miracle that was Dimitri Tirunul, a man beyond any dream that had ever engaged her nights. But she was human. Vulnerable. He was Carpathian. Nearly immortal. She was nineteen. He was an ancient. Yet she held half his soul, the light to his darkness. Without her, he would not survive. Caught between the two warring species, Dimitri has spent centuries hunting the undead to keep his people free, and humans safe. He had survived honorably when others had chosen to give up their souls. But now, marked for extermination by the Lycans, Dimitri found himself alone, and fearing for his life. But salvation was coming…

No Lycan would ever suspect someone like Skyler to dare mount a secret rescue operation. A teenage girl. A human of untested abilities. But she had something no one else had. She was predestined for Dimitri—as he was for her. And there was nothing stronger for Skyler than her desire to see her life-dream come true. Whatever the risk.

Review: First off, there’s some controversy about Skyler being in love with Dimitri at this point. I can’t remember where I read it but they couldn’t believe that she could be in love with him this fast. It’s been three years since Dark Celebration and they’ve talked nearly every night since then, I can believe that she would be madly in love with him. I feel like during the nights they talked, Skyler became more physically comfortable with him.

Second, I have to agree with the other thing that people are saying, I would have loved reading about Skyler’s healing process, their late night conversations, Dimitri coming to hold her when she had nightmares, all of it and I do wish that it wasn’t skipped but, that isn’t a strong enough feeling for me to take away a star.

I remember waiting for this book since Dark Legend and Dark Celebration, I loved it the first time I read it, I love it now. The cover, inside and out, is beautiful, the writing is excellent, the plot is very intriguing and the way the couple is just speaks to the hopeless romantic in me.

I absolutely love that the readers get to spend so much time with Josef and Paul, ever since Dark Symphony and Dark Secret, I’ve felt a need to really get to know these boys more and I really wished I could have read about them and Skyler becoming best friends.

The book is action packed after the rescue, filled with fights, tension, mystery, and the sweetest romance ever but again, that might just be the hopeless romantic talking. I feel like what happened in this book was needed for Skyler to really become confident in herself and her powers.

Thank you for reading my review.
