Even though this book is a novella, there is a full story here, although I don’t have a clue as to when Falcon marked the mountain path for Sara, the only time he seemed to leave her side was when he went to attack the vampire. He came right back.

While Darius was the first to actively decide to grow old with Tempest in Dark Fire, Falcon was the very first to actually ask for Sara’s consent to bind her to him with the ritual words. Even though he’s far older than the others and he knew he was close to turning, he still took the time to answer her questions and ask for her permission before they completed the ritual.

It was really great to see an ancient after believing that Mikhail was the oldest and I really liked the beginning, seeing Mikhail’s father.

The actual story was interesting, it wasn’t just Falcon asking for Sara’s consent, it was that she already knew him. This entire story is just so sweet. Sara finding the journal and knowing it’s for her, Falcon having written the journal and the way he treats her just melts my heart.

I love this book because you can really feel the connection between Falcon and Sara even though this was a novella and they didn’t really get to spend that much time together.

Also, meeting Jacques, Shea, Raven and Mikhail was amazing. Especially seeing Jacques healed enough to be the joker he used to be in Dark Prince and that they were trying to have a baby!

The way that the men drew the vampire out was unique and hasn’t been duplicated, Falcon taking Sara’s shape. Why don’t more of the men do this? It’s great and a safe way for the woman to be involved like it seems every single one of them, except Tempest, want to be. I remember when I first read this book, I gasped out loud, it was a unexpected plot twist.

And the ending, when Falcon gets into a pillow fight with the kids, it’s so cute. This book is just all around sweet when they are together and tense when the vampire is involved.
