I’ve got to say, this one was weird.

The time the couple had together was kind of glossed over, it seemed that when it really focused on them, something happened to take them away from each other. So when they said that they loved each other, I didn’t really feel that kind of connection.

The plot was a great idea, a little physical action, mostly psychological but the execution didn’t really work out. Half of what the villain and some flunkies said was in Creole so I would get a little lost. I wish she would have put a little glossary in the back or even a translation right next to the word.

There was little paragraphs under the chapter numbers from a handbook for humans about Others and while that was interesting to read maybe she could have put the translation to the Creole words there?

Another book where the ending was anticlimactic, it wasn’t really clear about what happened and I’m not sure about it.

There’s the question about Asher and Daph being together because he’s basically an immortal being and he can’t share his immortality with her. It’s never brought up again. It’s basically mentioned in passing, like it really isn’t that important but I would think that it is.

The plot really overshadowed the couple. Even when the story focused on them, half of the time she wasn’t herself.

So, because of that, I didn’t get any kind of romantic connection between the two. Maybe if Asher had talked to her about his feelings while she was unconscious or even stayed with her more and the author let us into his head would have made it better.

Also I feel, as a side note, that all of the time she spent with Missy, there should have been more mention of the baby she just had besides the baby monitor.

Kind of interesting but, the characters aren’t really all that memorable. The voodoo aspect of the story is interesting and the epilogue is a little funny but, I wouldn’t put this in my favorites list.
