I love this team, I really do but, I just don’t know how I feel about them just kind of popping up out of nowhere. I mean, we hear very briefly about Kane in Deadly Game but that’s about it, now it’s almost like starting the Ghostwalkers all over again. I’m not upset about it though, just a little note before I start my review. I do wish that they had made appearances in the other books though, like Jesse and Jack did before their books.
Now that I’ve wasted a paragraph on that, on with my review.
I do like how everyone grew up together, there was that camaraderie between everyone that really leapt off the page, even when they were mad at each other. Because of that, this book had quite a few funny moments.
Quite a bit of it repeats, a little more than the others but the connection is there and quite a bit of action. The action did kind of overwhelm and overshadow the romance though and that’s why I’m giving it four stars instead of five.
I absolutely loved the references to the past books, even if they didn’t say any names, the readers would know who they were talking about.
Also, if you read Shadow Game you would be right here with me but, I was wondering what had happened to Phillip Thorton since the readers see nothing about him in any of the others so, it was really interesting to see what the team does about him.
As I said, I love that they all knew one another and the readers get to see a new rare talent and we get to meet all these new characters, I really want a book for Javier, but it seemed like the couple didn’t get to spend all that much time together to rebuild their relationship.
Kind of opposite from Predatory Game, the relationship is rushed while the action was on pace with the plot.
Thank you for reading my review.
