I’m still hooked. Having basically grown up with the books, I’m not really that surprised.
It’s still written very simply and inside Max’s head but the readers get a treat this time around, and we get inside the head of two of Max’s enemies every now and again.
It feels like most of this book is filler, although isn’t that every second book? Now, a bit of it is and there’s this one big filler part that is actually very important to the story.
It still feels like the author is trying to push a romance into this book but honestly, a romance would just end up ruining this book. There’s no buildup for it, there was no romantic feeling between the two, any type of romance would just show up out of no where, so there’s no romantic connection between them. There’s no room for a romance and it’s just highly unnecessary. If it’s in the third book, I’m going to be ticked off.
I don’t love it as much as the first book but, I’m still giving it five stars because so far, it’s a good series.
Thank you for reading my review.
