Blurb: An angel trapped in Hell for centuries, Apollyon is tired of guarding the Devil. He longs to break free and feel the wind in his feathers, but he cannot leave the endless darkness without permission from above. When he senses someone calling him, he seizes his chance for freedom, but soon discovers the call came from a beautiful woman he has watched over from Hell, a woman who casts a spell on him and awakens the darkest desires of his heart.
Serenity is shocked when a wickedly sensual black-winged angel shows up in her city of Paris claiming that she called him when she was only casting a simple vengeance spell. He’s no other than the angel of death! When the lethally handsome warrior offers to obey her and give her revenge, Serenity can’t resist the temptation, but can she resist the forbidden hungers the dark angel stirs in her?
Review: Now this is how a short story is written. I was instantly pulled in and wanted it to keep going. Even though some scenes were repetitive, I honestly didn’t care. The feeling it gave me was realistic, in that fantasy sort of way. Yes it’s about an angel but, the emotions that are involved is what gave me that realistic feeling.
While it’s only eight chapters long, it really didn’t feel rushed. It didn’t go straight from fear to love, it had insecurities, fear, being physically attracted first then getting to the emotions, which I think makes an amazing story. Readers need to know what’s going on the protagonists head while dealing with a life changing event. She already knows about the supernatural but instead of just accepting that he’s an angel, she’s fearful and then skeptical that he wants to help her.
She was nervous and floundering, he was precious when it came to flying and trying new things. Instead of instantly trusting him, she displays characteristics of the everyday reader, making this story relatable. Instead of instantly trusting him, she became insecure and jealous, which is something I think every woman goes through.
If you’re looking for a quick read and for something written really well and cute, I highly suggest this book. Just be prepared to want the other books, I know I do.
Thank you for reading my review.
